Hello, welcome to the Illustration & Design studio shop of Amber Hsu. 

I'm a Chinese-born, US-raised, UK-based wordsmith, visual artist, and designer. My Chinese name is 徐碧莉 (pinyin: xúbìlì), and is pronounced "shoobilly".

Everything here is packaged and made from my studio in London.

SOME NOTES ABOUT RECENT SELF:

I'm a scribbler, maker & DIY enthusiast. I've been drawing and making things my whole life. 

In recent years I won a Society of Children’s Books Writers & Illustrators UV Illustrator’s Award, and a 3×3 Magazine Children's illustration award (2012). 

I'm also the creator of Tiny Pencil, an independent, artist-led, anthology artzine and press founded in 2013.

In 2014, I received a Film London Award to direct my first short film: Next Time.

I've also written for various theatres including the Royal Court Theatre, Orange Tree Theatre, Islington Youth Theatre. I've also been on writing attachment at the National Theatre Studios, and was a member of the BBC Writer’s Room London Voices group.

Once, I also worked in a morgue.
